Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the US and works as a photographer and journalist. Since more than 45 years she has focused on documenting the suffering of people, particularly during war and natural catastrophes. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, TV news reporter and host who is best recognized as a correspondent on the Today program a morning broadcast newscast on NBC. Curry was renowned for her work on reporting humanitarian crises in war-torn countries as well as on natural catastrophes. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Curry met her mother when she was living with their father during Japan after World War II. Due to her father's military duty, the family travelled frequently. They finally settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism degree in the year 1978. She was exposed to different cultures and environments throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy with which she approaches global issues. Curry's family was often moving and Curry was not able to stay at a single school for more than two years. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland was where she eventually finished her high school. Her journey to a successful career when she began her career in broadcasting by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first woman news reporter at the station at the age of 22. After that, she moved to reporting and anchoring at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. After four years she moved into Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. Through her six-year relationship with KCBS She was honored with 2 Emmy Awards.
